The Smaller Pasture with Snow
Now I know I just made a post today already but this much snow down in Georgia is unusual for us. I wanted to share a couple of photos of Chief's pasture which we are currently working on to replace rotted posts, tightening fence, and adding hot wire. The first image below is looking across at some of the trees with the lower, larger pasture below. That pasture will eventually be for cattle.
The second image is morning light on the wooded end up nearer to the house. Chief's water tub can be seen here. Currently he resides in our neighbro's pasture until we get fencing repairs completed. The larger pasture thankfully has much newer fencing and requires very little work. I think some of these images I took this morning will be used as source material for more oil and pastel paintings!

A New Year with Snow!
Snow in Georgia!
We are finally getting settled into our new home and looking forward to spring. What a surprise to get a snowfall here in North Georgia! Here is Little Copper Chief not too sure about this white stuff.
I am finally back to work in the studio and have completed and shipped the first pieces for the 2010 year - yay! Several peole have asked if I might post a few photos of my new studio. I still have things to unpack and much organizing to do, but for now it is up and running to some degree. I am very lucky to have windows on three sides, a door that opens out to the back yard, and blinds I can lower if it gets too bright or too hot in summer. And SPACE! So much room than the 4 by 6 foot bathroom I used to have to work in.
Here is a view looking towards the north end where my work table can be seen. My underglaze drawer case doubles as my saddle rack with my riding helmet on top. To the left (and photo below) are a few shelving units where I store materials like jars of glaze, latex, paint boxes for oils, pastels, extra small canvases and boards, etc. Also a small assortment of flat work laying around both older pieces and some in progress.
And finally below, a view looking more towards the south with another bird feeder and the backyard visible. This place is about half wooded and half pasture. It's not much acreage but it's our first home we own. We are very pleased. Eventually I'll get the larger kiln wired up downstairs in the basement. For now I do have the small kiln that I fire outside in good weather or in the laundry room on pavers in foul weather.
Around the corner in the kitchen there is a china cabinet where I have ceramic and resin sculptures I am currently working on. There is much work to finish with getting the studio sorted out and better organized yet I think it's a good start. A pleasure to work in this space.
I hope you enjoy my first blog post here. Alas, I can not regain access to my old blog but I only had two posts there anyway. I will from time to time make posts here to show what I am working on or have finished as time allows. I do not however want this blog to take too much time away from my working!
